Lostwithiel is an ancient stannary town and lies tucked away in the Fowey Valley and boasts history in every stone with its rich heritage. A little town with plenty of independent and attractive shops, In the past Lostwithiel has been called the antiques capital of Cornwall and it’s still home to several antique and vintage shops today.
Complimented by the day to day shops such as a butchers, a deli, a pharmacy, a newsagent/general store and a Co-op, it’s a place to stop and shop. Shops selling crystals, cards and crafts, coffee and cake, upcycled and locally made items, it’s a real treat to visit Lostwithiel. Visit the little (free) Lostwithiel Museum or eat a pasty sitting by the river. Enjoy free parking throughout the town and a wander through the shops before alighting at a café or one of the pubs for lunch. Lostwithiel also has a long established traditional auction house, Jefferys, usually on a Wednesday, monthly or thereabouts, check online for dates and type of sale. The Duchy of Cornwall Nursery is about a mile away on the outskirts of town, offering lunches and lovely views over the surrounding countryside and Restormel Castle.
